Pommard Premier Cru "Les Rugiens"
Part of the finest climates in Pommard, Les Rugiens comprises two sections, with the more prestigious Rugiens Hauts acquired by the estate in 2007. This very steep parcel with its east and south-east exposure mostly consists of limestone. Just like Nuits, Pommard does not produce any Grands Crus. Yet Les Rugiens, along with Grands Epenots and Clos des Epenots, are widely regarded as the appellation’s finest climates. This wine is the epitome of elegance and class, offering exceptional ageing potential. The wine strikes a fine balance of black fruit and spicy aromas on both the nose and palate, complemented by subtle woody and smoky notes. It expresses its full power beautifully thanks to its high tannin content, wrapped in a pleasant structure and lingering aromas.
Domaine Faiveley
Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and founded in 1825, Faiveley is one of the largest and most illustrious domaines in Burgundy. Many of Faiveley’s top wines are hand bottled with no filtration. This in turn results in clean, opulent wines that often show Pinot Noir at its best. Their concentration and richness are rarely equalled. In recent years there has been a notable expansion of vineyards under Faiveley’s control, particularly designed to augment the Domaine’s white wine offerings in the Côte de Beaune.
