Clos des Cortons Faiveley, the only red Grand Cru on the Côte de Beaune and the flagship of the estate, is a Monopole owned by the Faiveley family since 1874. Extending for 2,76 hectares, its unique name stems from a controversy that arose in the 1930s, when the family name was added to the original ‘Clos des Cortons’ to avoid any confusion. Clos des Cortons Faiveley is steeped in a rich history, mirroring its exceptional and complex terroir. Dominated by limestone, marl and clay, its soil is strewn with ferruginous oolite, forging red wines of unrivalled quality. The bouquet is intense, revealing wonderfully ripe, juicy and spicy red fruit. Perfectly balanced between smoothness and firmness on the palate, it lingers beautifully. This wine offers excellent ageing potential.

Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and founded in 1825, Faiveley is one of the largest and most illustrious domaines in Burgundy. Many of Faiveley’s top wines are hand bottled with no filtration. This in turn results in clean, opulent wines that often show Pinot Noir at its best. Their concentration and richness are rarely equalled. In recent years there has been a notable expansion of vineyards under Faiveley’s control, particularly designed to augment the Domaine’s white wine offerings in the Côte de Beaune.
