Faiveley owns this entire vineyard, which faces due south. The vines are planted on gravelly and pebbly soil containing little clay, which allows water to drain well. The unique nature of this terroir has earned it the nickname ‘Côte-Rôtie’ within the estate, a reference to the renowned winegrowing hillside of the northern Rhône Valley. The resulting wine is strict yet generous, reflecting the dry, sunny and early-ripening terroir of this unique clos. This intense wine encapsulates the very essence of the Beaune terroir. It offers an unique velvety and fruity elegance. Its intense ruby colour heralds a wine brimming with pure aromas of red and black fruits. Lively on the palate, it reveals spicy notes and a touch of mint.

Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and founded in 1825, Faiveley is one of the largest and most illustrious domaines in Burgundy. Many of Faiveley’s top wines are hand bottled with no filtration. This in turn results in clean, opulent wines that often show Pinot Noir at its best. Their concentration and richness are rarely equalled. In recent years there has been a notable expansion of vineyards under Faiveley’s control, particularly designed to augment the Domaine’s white wine offerings in the Côte de Beaune.
