Located south of the village, this climate has similarities with that of the ‘Saint-Georges’, though a little more rustic. It was ranked among the best in Nuits by Dr Lavalle in 1855. These vines, the very first to be acquired by Faiveley in the 1870s, hold a very special place in the domaine's heart and history. The vines here produce a powerful, structured and tannic wine typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Its distinctive character stems from the deep, stony, brown limestone soils that stretch across 1.68 ha. As to the wine itself: Black fruit aromas emerge, combined with a subtle hint of wood and smoke. The fleshy and generous attack develops into a crescendo of power and structure. It's beautifully well balanced with excellent ageing potential.

Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and founded in 1825, Faiveley is one of the largest and most illustrious domaines in Burgundy. Many of Faiveley’s top wines are hand bottled with no filtration. This in turn results in clean, opulent wines that often show Pinot Noir at its best. Their concentration and richness are rarely equalled. In recent years there has been a notable expansion of vineyards under Faiveley’s control, particularly designed to augment the Domaine’s white wine offerings in the Côte de Beaune.
