This wine is produced from three exceptional terroirs : "Nalys" with red sandstone typical of the Comtat and Saffres (around 25%), as well as "Bois Sénéchal" (around 25%) and "La Crau" (around 50%), both noted for their terroir comprising the famous galets, the ancient alluvial stones of the Rhône. The blend is normally around 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 8% Mourvèdre, with the remainder Counoise and Muscardin. The vines are over 60 years old and the resulting wine is a deep, dark and dense full-bodied red with intense notes of red and black berries, dark cherries, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, sandalwood and spice. The finish is invariably long and silky. With at least 15 - 20 years of aging potential, this pairs well with red meats grilled or cooked in sauces, game birds, and aged cheeses.

Château de Nalys enjoys an exceptional position in the heart of the appellation opposite the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and its famous Papal Palace. With its sixty hectares, this lovely property is made up of three similar-sized plots: “Nalys” in the area of “Grand Pierre,” home to red sandstone soils; “Bois Sénéchal;” and the famous terroir of “La Crau.” The latter two plots are endowed with ancient stony alluvium soils and the famous pebbles of the Rhône region, the “galets.” Château de Nalys is, without question, one of the premium estates of the appellation, it’s Grand Vin named one of Wine Spectator’s Top 10 wines in the World in 2021.
