Burja

Primus Stranice

A blend of Istrian Malvazija (50%), Welschriesling (20%), Rebula (20%) and other varieties from vines with an average age of 65 years. The wine was fermented in oak barrels and aged on the lees for 18 months before bottling. In other words, this is a longer skin-contact version of the Bela. It's a beautiful golden colour in the glass, replete with aromas of stone fruit: juicy peach and apricot intermingle with subtle bursts of lemon zest and lime. The palate reveals a full-bodied, deep white wine, with ripe notes of stone fruit, honeysuckle, thyme and chalky seashell minerality. This pairs well with seafood such as oysters and mussels, soft cheeses, or light salads.

The multi-award winning Burja Estate combines a traditional Vipava Valley winegrowing farm with contemporary understanding of wine. Their work and vision are based on respect for local varieties and knowledge about the diversity and wealth of their vineyards, all of which are cultivated according to the principles of biological and biodynamic viticulture. Today, Primož Lavrenčič is one of the most respected figures in Slovene winemaking, and his relatively new Burja label is already one of the most sought after Slovene brands in countries across the world.
