This "Noir" is the red flagship of the Burja estate and is a magnificent red wine. The Pinot Noir vines grow on marl soils of Slovenia's Vipava Valley at an altitude of 200–260 metres, facing northeast. The vines are around 20 years old and planted very densely, though a strict selection means that only 3,000–4,000 litres of wine are produced per hectare. Needless to say, the grapes are handpicked and grown biodynamically. 12 months in barrique barrels, spontaneous fermentation and no filtration create a soft and elegant Pinot Noir offering ripe red fruits, especially cherry and raspberry notes complemented by underbrush and smoky notes, as well as fine tannins. Pair this with red meat, venison and game such as wild boar.

The multi-award winning Burja Estate combines a traditional Vipava Valley winegrowing farm with contemporary understanding of wine. Their work and vision are based on respect for local varieties and knowledge about the diversity and wealth of their vineyards, all of which are cultivated according to the principles of biological and biodynamic viticulture. Today, Primož Lavrenčič is one of the most respected figures in Slovene winemaking, and his relatively new Burja label is already one of the most sought after Slovene brands in countries across the world.
