The Burja Bela white cuvée is in the style of an orange wine and is a wonderful combination of Malvasia (40%), Rebula (30%) and Welschriesling (20%) with a smattering of other varietals. Characterised by the fresh acidity and aromatic power of the Rebula, the blend is refined by the floral and spicy notes of the Malvasia and rounded off with the complex and ripe fruit of the Welschriesling. The grapes come from vines in two vineyards, one 60 years old and the other 20 years old, and are harvested exclusively by hand. After a minimum of 10 months in large oak barrels and concrete tanks, Burja Bela is bottled for additional maturation. Winemaker Primoz Lavrencic uses only the best grapes from both vineyards for this cuvée. Like all wines from the Burja winery, the Bela is also produced biodynamically and unfiltered. The texture is uniquely rich, it coats the entire mouth and allows the flavours of the wine to linger. Look for aromas of citrus, apricots, fruit compote as well as light vanilla and herbal nuances. The tannins are very pleasant, and this can be paired broadly with veal, pork, poultry, but also with strong-tasting fish such as tuna or salmon. The Burja Bela is an excellent orange wine from Slovenia. See for yourself!

The multi-award winning Burja Estate combines a traditional Vipava Valley winegrowing farm with contemporary understanding of wine. Their work and vision are based on respect for local varieties and knowledge about the diversity and wealth of their vineyards, all of which are cultivated according to the principles of biological and biodynamic viticulture. Today, Primož Lavrenčič is one of the most respected figures in Slovene winemaking, and his relatively new Burja label is already one of the most sought after Slovene brands in countries across the world.
