Blended from a selection of the first pickings in the terraces of the top vineyards and partly from mature vines on the valley floor, FX Pichler's Dürnsteiner Grüner Veltliner offers a beautifully clear, intense and elegant nose with a stony and even flinty character and the typical coolish Wachau spiciness. On the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, dense and elegant, vital and lively GV with structured fruit, grip and stable, saline acidity that carries the wine to a sustainable and tensioned finish.

Based in Austria’s most prestigious region, the Wachau, F.X. Pichler are one of the world’s foremost producers of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. They are truly monumental dry white wines. Franz Xaver (the eponymous F.X.) inherited the estate in 1971, and was instrumental in the rise to prominence of both his family’s winery and the Wachau. His son Lucas (the fifth generation) now makes the wine, but F.X. is still an active presence in the vineyards.
