Sauvignon Blanc has its own unique style in the Brda/Collio hills - aromatic yet with great fruitiness - typified in this limpid mid-gold wine. There’s an inviting and expressive nose, with aromas of cut grass, passion fruit, lemon oil and box leaf. To taste, it’s complex and intense with tropical fruit, papaya and crushed nettle notes then lingering, fine, fresh acidity. Elegant, mineral Sauvignon Blanc – a true terroir wine.

Josef Simčić started to make wine at this Brda estate in 1860. Five generations later, Marjan Simčić carries on the tradition. His 18 hectares of vineyards straddle the border between Italy and Sloveniaand comprise several hills’ and many microclimates. This is why his wines are divided into three ranges: classic, cru and Opoka, which is a specific cru containing calcareous soil. Marjan’s attention to specific terroir, long aging of wines before release and consistent high quality has made him one of Europe’s best-known producers and the wines a benchmark for Slovenia. Cru Selection wines are complex, produced with the best selected grapes from older vineyards. The vine was cultivated so that its root system grew deeper, in a soil poor with organic components, it extracts only the mineral components that guarantee a constant high quality of the grape. The grapes are selectively hand picked when fully matured. Opoka wines are extremely rich and complex. They are produced only with grapes of the most exceptional harvests, in extremely small quantities, matured for 22 to 36 months in the finest wooden barrels and poured with no filtration, except during decantation. They are released to the market only six months after bottling.
